Editorial

We start off the new year with some real interesting articles and hope you enjoy this issue.  We are pleased to have an article from Patrick Moore, written specially for CANOPUS about the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe.  Also, Danie Overbeek has given us a copy of his write-up in MNASSA of the February 14th minor planet occultation.  This event is possibly the easiest and most important YOU can do this year.  Please try and do it, and get your friends to join in!!

These two stalwarts are the source of another article - one which we hope is going to be the first in a series about amateur observatories.  Danie Overbeek’s observatory was featured in a book edited by Patrick Moore on small home observatories.

We would like to also thank those who regularly send in articles for Canopus, especially Eben van Zyl, Evan Dembsky, Chris Stewart, Raymond & Lori Barbour,  and Bill Wheaton. How about the rest of our members? Your articles would be welcome.
