Notice of September Meeting

The next meeting of the Johannesburg Centre will be held at 20h00 on 10 September 1997 in the Herbert Baker Building, 18a Gill Street, Observatory.

The agenda will be :

Chairman’s Opening
Danie’s Corner                          - Danie Overbeek
The Night’s Sky                         - Ed Finlay
Some Aspects of Elderly Stars   - Marion West, a radio astronomer at HARTRAO
Refreshments

The Committee is attempting to organise a “MARS BAR” where beers and cold drinks are available. Tea and coffee will be available, as usual.

Beginner’s Class

Before the meeting, Tom Budge will be holding an informal discussion aimed at beginners. This will start at 19h00. The topic will be “The Solar System”.

Deep-Sky Viewing

Saturday evening deep-sky viewing at Tom Budge’s farm, Protea Ranch, Vlakplaats, will be on the following days :

6 September 1997
4 October 1997
1 November 1997

Future Events

The trip to Sutherland has unfortunately had to be cancelled for this year. It is hoped that this trip will be possible next year.
