The Web between the Worlds

The problem with CCD cameras is that they are priced beyond the means of the average South African amateur astronomer. Who can afford hundreds of dollars on such an item these days? Thankfully, there is an answer! It is possible to make a CCD camera relatively cheaply, in fact, you may already own all you need! I refer to the gentle art of using a Webcam for astro-imaging, which I have done myself with surprising and gratifying results. Though I bought my cam from Incredible Connection (http://www.incredible.co.za) for about R700, a friend sourced a cam for his own AstroCam project from the junkmail

for R200. And it is several models better than mine to boot!

Colin Bownes' site is stocked up with good solid information on the subject, and I had a good chuckle at his novel (to me) method of fixing the problem of an annoying streetlight.  It would be fruitfull if one spent some time there.
