Johannesburg Centre, Astronomical Society of Southern Africa

Editorial.

The fantastic news that the South African government has approved the 11 meter telescope for Sutherland was welcomed by all astronomers, so we asked Case Rijsdijk at SAAO to give us some details. He has provided a great article on SALT which we are priveledged to publish in this issue. For the serious observers getting an accurate time signal is sometimes an essential part of observing and we have a timely article on this topic from Louis Marais at the National Metrology Laboratory at the CSIR. Eben van Zyl has again put together an interesting article and we have an artcle from Bill Wheaton at JPL. Thank you all for your support.
