Web Between the Worlds  

First up this month is an interesting little site that goes by the name “Astronomy Mall”. The “mall” is divided into four sections, Astronomy-Mall, AstroNet, Free Astronomy Classified and Astro Bucks. The Astronomy-Mall is a commercial resource, a listing of companies that supply pertinent equipment. AstroNet is basically a likable little bi-weekly reference. The classifieds section is unremarkable, but useful. Apparently you can win stuff in Astro Bucks. The site is simple enough to navigate, and low on graphics. Despite this fact, it can be pretty slow to load. Check it out at

Almost everyone interested in astronomy who surfs has been here. In case you’re one of those that slipped through the cracks, I’ll tell you about it. The Astronomy Café is one of the most popular astronomy sites on the Web, created and run by Dr. Sten Odenwald, now at NASA. Billed as the "web site for the astronomically disadvantaged"  the good doctor has gone to considerable length to produce a useful site. He has a number of interesting sections at his site, such as A Guide to Infrared Astronomy, Published Popularizations and Big Bang Cosmology Essays. There is little for the advanced amateur here, but it is worth looking at if you’re a novice. While the content is good, the presentation is lacking. This is not serious, and should not detract from your surfing experience.
