Johannesburg Centre, Astronomical Society of Southern Africa

Editorial

It’s a new year for the society and we have a number of changes on the committee.  We also have a new team producing Canopus and so you are going to be seeing a newsletter with a new look and some new ideas in it.

We have asked a couple of people to each write a regular column so, for instance, we will hopefully have articles each month on “Astronomy on the Internet”, “Astronomical events this month”, “Telescope making ideas” and a couple more.

But we are hoping to attract articles from a much wider base and therefore we invite you all to contribute articles to the new Canopus.  Any and every aspect of Astronomy and/or the society would be welcome.

Articles can be typed, handwritten or sent to us via email.  We will type them up and format them as necessary. Send to our e-mail address or hand the articles to any of the committee members.  We will even come and collect articles if you have a problem with transport.  Our deadline is going to be about the 20th of the month in order to get Canopus posted in time.
