Johannesburg Centre stalwart Hugh Cameron
died of a massive stroke on August 20. A person of decided views, Hugh sometimes
contributed to debate when he felt it necessary to state a contrary opinion.
Hugh's main amateur activity was occultation
observing and he participated in a number of grazing occultation expeditions and observed
total lunar occultations for a number of years.
For a number of years he was in poor health
and spoke with difficulty because of a stroke. His interest in astronomy remained as
lively as ever as those of us who continued to visit him can attest.
