Notice of March Meeting
Wednesday March 11th 1998 at 8.00 pm at the Observatory.
Professor Lyn Wadley will discuss some aspects of the book
The Fingerprints of the Gods
written by Duvall and Hancock.
Professor Wadley is professor of archaeology at Wits University and has an intimate knowledge of the Pyramids and the Sphinx. Hancock claims that the positioning of the Pyramids conforms to the alignment of the three stars in the belt of Orion and that Orion played a major role in the religious beliefs of the Egyptians. He also claims that the Sphinx is some 10,000 years old, much older than is generally accepted. There is also supposed to be a link between the Sphinx and the constellation of Leo.
Professor Wadley examines some of the merits of these claims.
This is an evening NOT TO BE MISSED.
